Auld lang syne

"Auld Lang Syne” is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and is well known in many English-speaking (and other) countries as a folk song to celebrate the start of the New Year at the stroke of midnight. By extension, its use has also become common at funerals, graduations, and as a farewell or ending to other occasions.
The song's Scots title may be translated into English as "old long since", "long long ago", "days gone by" or "old times". Singing the song on Hogmanay or New Year's Eve very quickly became a Scots custom that soon spread to other parts of the British Isles. As Scots (and other Britons) emigrated around the world, they took the song with them.
"Auld Lang Syne" is traditionally sung at the conclusion of New Year gatherings in Scotland and around the world, especially in English speaking countries.
It is common practice that everyone joins hands with the person next to them to form a great circle around the dance floor.

Making questions

Vocabulary revision and adverbs of frequency

• Do you remember the vocabulary we have studied up to now? Weeks ago you could practise the pronunciation of these words, now you  can practise the correct spelling of numbers and days of the week . These online exercises are just for fun but you can revise these words to write them properly.  

• After this, you can practise the adverbs of frequency with this exercise. You have to log in by writing an e-mail address and a name. (Tienes que registrarte con un nombre y dirección de correo).

Plural of nouns. Listening practice

Last week we studied how we write the plural form of nouns. Practise the exercises below for revision. Remember that the spelling rules we learnt are the same as for the 3rd person singular of the simple present we are studying now.

Bienvenid@s al 1º del Curso Actualización Lingüística para el idioma inglés en el IES San José de la Rinconada. Éste es uno de los centros "satélites" de la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Sevilla. Desde aquí podéis acceder a la programación del curso pasado y a los libros de texto del presente.
